Engagement Photographs

Oregon City Engagement Photographs | Anna + Tyler

Anna and Tyler said they wanted their engagement session to be adventure themed.  Within the first fifteen minutes they agreed to climb on top of these huge rocks (see below), which fit the adventure theme perfectly.  They also laughed, like REALLY LAUGHED together the entire time we shot.  I loved seeing them have so much fun together and am excited to shoot their wedding this next summer!

Anna and Tyler, thanks so much for doing an engagement session with me, so wonderful hanging out with you both!

Blue Star Donuts Engagement Photographs | Megan + Teresa

This is a beautiful story, this is why I love what I do.

A couple of months ago I got a call from Megan, she told me about how she was going to propose to her girlfriend, an elaborate plan involving the following:

1.  Their first date location: Blue Star Donuts.

2.  Me pretending to be doing a shoot for Blue Star Donuts, then at the perfect moment transitioning to taking photos of Megan proposing to Teresa.

3.  A sophisticated set of "lies" to make this all happen.  (Any good surprise involves a good amount of well meaning "lies", remember this.)

I was stoked.  The location was awesome, the donuts too, and most of all, I could tell that Megan really really loves Teresa.  She told  me about how Teresa really likes my work, so she wanted to surprise hire me to take photos of their proposal.  She told me about how she had arranged everything with Blue Star Donuts, so that I could spend time shooting in their kitchen, while her and Teresa waited in the huge line that's outside of Blue Star Donuts every Sunday.  This is love.

I also have to leave a great little note for Blue Star Donuts, they were fantastic and so incredibly kind to me.  When I showed up I was stressed about making everything work out correctly, their shop was CRAMMED full of people, seriously crammed, but they still took the time out to talk everything through with me to make sure that I was able to take these photos, and they were so generous and told me to do whatever I wanted.  Huge thanks to them for their kindness, and also for making some freaking incredible donuts.

Here's the images from the proposal, as well as some from Blue Star Donuts.  Teresa and Megan share a beautiful connection, and I'm so incredibly excited and thankful to be working with them.

Thank you so much for hiring me Megan and Teresa!

Malori & Jon | Engagement

Silver Falls State Park is a really important place to Malori and Jon, it's the place they went on their first date, the place where they got engaged and (most importantly ;)) the place where we took their engagement photos. Western Oregon gave us a beautiful evening to explore and some gorgeous evening sunlight to take pictures in. I love that Malori and Jon chose a really meaningful place to take their photos and think that that will make their pictures even more special to them. I've done a few different sessions at Silver Falls now, and being in a familiar setting I always try to challenge myself to see and use the surroundings differently. Here's what we came up with...

It definitely wasn't warm while we were at Silver Falls, and Malori and Jon had told me that they were planning on playing in the water towards the end of the session. As we neared the end of the session and the temperature continued dropping, I figured they'd change their minds, but they decided to go for it. Jon picked Malori up in the freezing cold water and Malori's flip flops promptly headed down stream. Jon, who has now been named the hero of the session, dove into the water in an attempt to rescue the flip flops. Jon managed to rescue one of the flip flops, which explains the last photo below.

Malori and Jon, thank you for being so much fun and adventurous and being willing to do anything I asked and even more! I had a great evening with you guys and really enjoyed capturing the beautiful connection that you two share.

Happy Monday!
