Columbia River Gorge Family Photos | Funks Island

Ok, you may know that this (apparently it’s now named Funk’s Island?) is one of my very favorite locations in the Columbia River Gorge. It is incredible. It has everything you could want from a photo session location, all within easy walking distance of your car. The most negative thing about the location is keeping all of the photographers out of your shots (seriously, I think I saw five other photographers there shooting at the same time as me).

I was so honored that the M family drove all the way out to the Gorge from Albany to do this family photo shoot with me. We had a beautiful afternoon and as always I enjoyed watching this family interact and seeing their family culture and how much fun they have together. I’ll let the photos to the rest of the talking here, they’re better at it anyways, but M family, thank you so much for hiring me and for making the trek out to the Gorge, so wonderful meeting you and spending a little time with you all.

Boise Family Photographer | The M Family

Alright, these guys are awesome, they are our neighbors in Boise and we’re so grateful for them. Almost every day I see Thomas out riding his tricycle and he always gives me the sweetest little wave and smile. I was so excited to do a quick shoot for them, we literally did this in fifteen minutes in their front yard, but one thing I love about doing photo shoots at people’s homes is that it documents their life, so when they look back they can remember the house they lived in then, or the color it was, or the tree that fell over and smashed their car, before it smashed their car…. Alright, clearly my imagination is out of control, I’ve got a cold and I’m a bit of a zombie, but here’s the photos….

Boise Photographer | The S Family

The S Family moved to Boise around the same time as us from Nashville, we share some mutual friends and we’ve had a blast getting to know them and spending time together with our families. I always tell my wife Leah that Sarah and Ryan are so down to earth and easy going, I love hanging out with them because it’s so fun and comfortable, I feel like I can just be myself.

We meet up behind Camel’s Back in the Hulls Gulch area for their family photoshoot and I had so much fun wandering around the trails with them. The clouds and the sunlight were beautiful, and I know I always say this, but there’s always extra special meaning when I do shoots with people that I know, it reminds me how valuable and meaningful photos are. Enough rambling, but thanks to the S family for booking a shoot with me!
